Tips on how to stay healthy this summer at home

The apparent rise in temperature is the most visible predictor of the summer season. Under normal conditions, beach trips, sports and other recreational events are the highlight of summer preparations.

1. Stay hydrated

Staying hydrated is important for the body’s cooling process. When exercising or doing strenuous activities in the heat, it is recommended to drink electrolyte-containing drinks in addition to drinking more water. Hydration can also be increased by consuming foods rich in water, such as fruits and vegetables.

2. Exercise regularly

Exercise is an integral part of maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Try to keep any exercise or physical activity indoors or under sufficient shade as much as possible. To escape the worst of the summer sun, schedule workouts during cooler hours—either early in the day or later in the afternoon.

3. Getting enough sleep

Increased appetite, higher blood glucose, low concentration, regular sickness, and decreased problem-solving skills are all related to not having enough sleep. Make it a point to get at least 7 hours of sleep every night.

4. Maintain proper hygiene

Taking a cold shower, particularly after coming in from the cold, is one of the best ways to regulate body temperature. The body is not only cooled, but the possibility of contamination from bacteria and other toxins is also reduced. Meanwhile, food contamination can be prevented by hand washing as well as disinfecting rooms, cutleries and cooking utensils.

5. Protect yourself from sun overexposure

Aerobic exercise is important for maintaining a solid and balanced heart health. You can inhale and exhale consistently and perform light exercises on a regular basis. However, the sun’s ultraviolet rays can be harmful to the human body. Keep as much of your body out of the sun as possible; this will help you absorb more energy. If you have to exercise, stay indoors or limit your sun exposure. Applying a sunblock is a must too.

6. Wear loose, light-colored and lightweight clothing

Excessive clothing or tight-fitting clothes does not allow your body to cool properly. Clothes made of cotton and linen are preferred over synthetic fabrics.

7. Schedule an appointment with a virtual doctor

In the midst of all the existing health concerns, scheduling a check-up with a doctor will ensure that any emerging health issues are resolved before they worsen. Schedule an appointment with a doctor from Medgate to avoid disease exposure when you go out.
